SIDING OPTIONS

Exposure - Siding panels today are available in 3, 4, 4.5, 5 and 8." The 3" panels give you more detail, as more panels are needed. The 8" panel gives you less detail as fewer panels are needed. The choice is simply a personal preference. You may want to step outside and view your home from across the street. See what the neighbors have on either side of you. Butt Edge or Panel Projection Butt edge comes in 2/8", 3/8", 4/8", 5/8", and 6/8". In general the longer butt edge creates a more pronounced shadow line and a stiffer panel.

Texture

Texture refers to the depth of the graining. Most vinyl panels today have a woodgrain appearance stamped into the panel. This can be a faint, medium or strong impression. Some panels are smooth and have no woodgrain impression at all. Others have a brushed texture.

Finish

The finish refers to the outside surface. It can be matte, low gloss, medium gloss, or high gloss.

Colors

There are over 45 colors of vinyl siding available from over 20 different manufactures. You will find most colors in the light pastel group. Dark colors in vinyl expand and contract too much resulting in a buckled appearance. If you want a darker color, aluminum or steel is the best way to go.
