Wood Windows

There are so many choices in wood windows today it's hard to know what to do. Consider some of the following when making up your mind. See some of our product offerings at the bottom of this page.

Wood Window Pros

Wood Window Cons

  • An exterior clad in aluminum is nearly maintenance free. Aluminum clad is easy to paint if you ever want to change the exterior color in the future
  • Many wood windows are not clad on the exterior. This leaves exposed wood that will need to be maintained on a regular basis.
  • Wood does not expand and contract with temperature changes
  • Wood swells with increases in humidity and this can cause operational problems like hard to open and close
  • Wood windows offer flexibility for interior staining and painting
  • Wood needs to be maintained inside and out; staining, painting, sanding, sealing
  • Wood has very good insulating qualities
  • Custom made wood windos are the more exspensive wood window options.
  • Beautiful natural look
  • Some clad windows do not have 100% of the exterior clad. You think you will have no painting maintenance on the exterior because you bought clad windows and suddenly you see peeling paint on your window.
  • Vinyl cladded wood windows are nearly maintenance free
  • Vinyl clad is not as easy to repaint if you want to change the exterior color at a later date. Some manufacturers will void a warranty if you paint the vinyl exterior.
  • Wood is a durable, strong building material
  • Can Rot and Corrode
